WHAT IS TALLOW?
Tallow is a gently rendered animal fat, usually from cows. We have sourced all our beef tallow from the finest local, organic, grass-fed + finished cow farms located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Our ancestors used tallow to care for their skin until animal products fell out of fashion + were replaced with chemicals, petroleum bi-products, toxic vegetable seed oils, chemically fractionated plant products and synthetic vitamins.
WHEN'S THE EXPIRATION DATE?
We recommend using your tallow product within six months of receiving it.
While tallow can keep for a year or more - if it becomes contaminated it can develop mold. It's important that you don't allow any water to enter your product and don't store it in a warm, moist place. If you see any black spots develop in your product, discontinue use. If your product has any black spots upon arrival, please contact us.
ARE ALL YOUR PRODUCTS ORGANIC?
We highly value + prioritize sourcing all our ingredients to be as organic, non-toxic + never treated as possible. We use only the best, most local products, based on seasonality, and without any added chemicals, fertilizers, hormones or insecticides.
While can't always claim that they are 100% certified organic - you can be sure we are sourcing them to be as pure + non-toxic as possible.
DOES TALLOW SMELL LIKE BEEF?
Tallow does have a natural odor + it smells different to everyone but it is unlike the smell of beef. Some batches don't smell much like anything at all - while some do end up with a faint tallow smell. Since all our products are handmade, small batch - It all depends on a variety of factors that are impossible to control. This to be expected with natural products - they vary based on seasonality of ingredients.
We do not deodorize our tallow, as this alters the true benefits of the ingredient.
WHY IS TALLOW SO BENEFICIAL?
We use Tallow Salve because it is nature's original skin care product + have found it works better than the man-made products, that began to replace it, in the 20th century.
Tallow contains abundant natural fat-soluble Vitamins (A, D, E, and K) and fat-soluble activators, which are found only in animal fats and which all promote skin and hair health.

Tallow also contains fats like conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) which has anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Also contains Palmitoleic Acid which has natural antimicrobial properties. No plant-based skincare ingredient or product can remotely compare to tallow in its power to nourish and heal the skin. This fact is not surprising since we are animals and not plants.
WHY DO YOU USE EMU OIL OVER OTHER OILS?
Since ancient times, these animal oils have been considered healing salves for the skin and also for muscles and joints due to their soothing, cleansing, moisturizing, and deep-penetrating properties. We now know that these properties are a result of their high levels of antioxidants like Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and their other fat-soluble nutrients.
Although olive oil, coconut and other oils can be nourishing , they are too thick for the skin to absorb and tend to leave a tacky like layer.
ARE TALLOW PRODUCTS GREASY?
Our Tallow is readily absorbed by the skin. Therefore, applying the Tallow Balm does not result in a greasy look or feel. It is taken up by the skin as nourishment + softens the skin quickly.
If your skin doesn't absorb what you apply, then you are applying too much. Remember that a little goes a long way.
WHY IS MY TALLOW SOMETIMES A DIFFERENT CONSISTENCY?
Our Tallow salves are not chemically engineered to be always the same - which is a good thing and part of the reason it works so well!
While we always try and make it as consistent as possible, the ingredients come directly from nature and not from a laboratory. Therefore, you may notice our Tallow salve can vary from batch to batch in color, consistency, and scent but it never alters it’s effectiveness.
Small batch, handmade - these are the characteristic of a truly natural product. Even the very principal ingredient of our Tallow Salve which is tallow varies according to the season, the animal, he feed etc.
WHICH VARIETY OF TALLOW IS BEST FOR BABIES OR SMALL CHILDREN?
All of our salves are hypoallergenic + have no added fragrance except Tutti Frutti. Our Tutti Frutti is the only salve containing essential oil (ylang ylang).

Always do a small patch test with any new product and wait 24 hours to see if there was any type of intolerance.
Disregard use at any sign of irritation.
WHY DOES THE MAGNESIUM TALLOW CAUSE MY SKIN TO ITCH WHEN APPLIED
This is quite a common reaction when first applying magnesium topically, however this will subside with continued use. Typically itch from topical magnesium is a sign you're defficient and need to up your levels.
To reduce the reaction, we recommend the following techniques: -
Apply only a small amount to any individual skin area and massage in well.
Apply after a shower onto wet skin, while pores are open.
Vary the application areas, avoiding sensitive or broken skin areas.
Little but often is the key. Massage in and wait for a minute or so then try a little more.
